El Cerro Torre y el Monte Fitz Roy

Dentro del Campo Patagónico de Hielo Sur se erigen, quizás, las montañas más lindas del mundo. Durante estos últimos tres años sobrevolé varias veces esta región, disfrutando de increíbles amaneceres y soberbias puestas de sol sobre estas agujas de granito. Estas fotos pretenden ser un homenaje a todos los escaladores y expedicionarios que aún se aventuran en los hielos eternos para transmitir todo el esplendor de la zona y sus montañas.
FOTO 1: Amanece sobre las torres de granito. El sol, que aparece desde las estepas del Este, comienza a iluminar todas las agujas que circundan al Fitz Roy y al cerro Torre.
FOTO 2: Luces y sombras sobre el granito de de la cara oeste del Fitz Roy.
FOTO 3: Atardecer de otoño sobre los dos cordones montañosos. Se puede apreciar la majestuosidad del glaciar y la laguna.
FOTO 4: Otro amanecer. Las primeras luces acarician los hielos circundantes del cerro Torre.
FOTO 5: En una mañana tímidamente nubosa, el sol se asoma justo sobre la cima del Fitz Roy. Volar sobre el campo de hielo y sobre las montañas genera un espectáculo único.

The most beautiful mountains in the world
The Southern Patagonian Ice Field includes some of the most beautiful mountains in the world. Over these last three years, I have flown over this region several times, witnessing incredible sunrises and incomparable sunsets over the granite towers. These photographs intend to pay homage to all the mountaineers and expeditioners who still venture into the perennial ice to share with the world the splendor of the landscape and the magic of the mountains.

The sun rises over the granite towers. Emerging out of the steppes to the east, it shines over the mountain tops surrounding Mount Fitz Roy and Cerro Torre.

A fall sunset over the mountain chains, showcasing the extraordinary glacier and the lagoon in all their glory.

On this morning, the sun shines on a few shy clouds over the top of Mount Fitz Roy. Flying over the ice fields and the mountaintops offers a unique experience.

He’s authored several photo essays on the region and is currently working on a new book showcasing aerial shots of the Southern Patagonian Ice Field that he has gathered over his last few trips.
